Your vitamin D level will be determined by Spot Blood test. Only a finger prick sample is required (which is also less traumatic/more gentle for children). The diagnosis of vitamin D status is made by the hospital lab in UK.

This type of test is Doctor recommended, but doctors visit or prescription is not required. – Book for this test and consultation now to make sure your Vit D is at an optimum level!

What is being measured and what method is used?

The lab uses liquid chromatography mass spectrometry method to measure the Vitamin D in your blood. This test measures Vitamin D2 and D3 levels. Report consists of the total and D2 and D3 results.

Taking the sample and Results

During the first visit we take a spot blood sample together with personal details and on the same or following day the sample is posted by us to accredited analysis lab in UK.  Second visit is scheduled (usually within 2 weeks period), during which the results are presented to the client. Second visit also includes consultation time re conversion and calculation of correct dosage, and wider health implications of vitamin D deficiencies, as well as the best forms of supplementation, issue of sun screens, skin cancers and how to create healthy ‘relationship’ with the sun.

Total cost for two visits, test and consultation is 60 euro (paid upfront).

How Wide Spread Is The Problem of Vitamin D Deficiency?

Before the year 2000, very few doctors ever considered the possibility that you might be vitamin D deficient.

But as the technology to measure vitamin D became inexpensive and widely available, more and more studies were done, and it became increasingly clear that vitamin D deficiency was absolutely rampant. For example, according to one of the leading vitamin D researchers, Dr. Michael Holick:

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that 32 percent of children and adults throughout the US were vitamin D deficient — and this is grossly underestimated as they used vitamin D levels that were not consistent with optimal health.
  • The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that 50 percent of children aged one to five years, and 70 percent of children between the ages of six and 11, are deficient or insufficient in vitamin D.

Higher risk group for vitamin D deficiency involves:

people who spend most of the time indoor

people over 50 years old

people with skin problems

people who use sun-screens

people with obvious or hidden (undiagnosed) liver problems, insufficiency

people who use anti-cholesterol medication – Statins         (Statins may lower 3 different key nutrients)

people with obesity

people with Crohn’s, celiac and non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and inflammatory bowel disease

people with heavy metal (inc. mercury) body burden toxicity (i.e. those who have or had in the past dental metal amalgam fillings)

people with darker skin complexion (of African origin)
